Audrey Layne is 1 month old!!

Our baby girl turned one month old today!  Here are some interesting things we have learned about Audrey recently:
  • she has started cooing, especially in the morning
  • she has started giggling in her sleep, but still hasn't smiled while awake
  • she turns her head at the sound of my voice (most of the time)
  • she can focus on people when they are talking to her
  • she has officially learned to turn her head away from the camera when I am trying to get her picture (I am going to blame it one the flash, and not her distate for having her picture taken!)
  • she loves to exercise her head/neck, by constantly lifting it up during tummy time or when laying on anyone's chest
  • she also loves to exercise her legs by 'jumping' when her feet come into contact with anything, even when laying down
  • she has almost stopped scratching herself in the face, or at least we are working on it
  • her hair on top has been disappearing, but the long hair in the back is still there, so she has a baby mullet going on
  • she loves the first 15 minutes of tummy time, after that she is tired and bored
  • she still loves her swing and play gym
  • she stretches more than any baby I know- she throws her head and arms back and curls her butt up, and looks just like a little shrimp!  I have yet to get a picture of it though
At her one month checkup, Audrey weighed 8 lb, 8.5 oz, and was 21.25 inches long, which puts her just under the 50th percentile.  The doctor said this was normal, especially considering how feeding troubles in the beginning.  Overall, he said she looked wonderful, and is all set for next month, when we have to go back for the dreaded shots, duh duh duh!  Needless to say, I scheduled that appointment for a time when Eric could come, since I have a feeling I will be more of a mess than her afterwards!

Here are some recent pictures of her playing!

  1. Audrey is adorable! I know you are just loving her more than you can imagine and the past 4 weeks have probably gone by so fast for you. If she starts to hate tummy time try breaking it up into small sections throughout the day like 5 minutes here and there. She looks like she is about to roll over in some of the pictures which would be great (and early too).
